But as impressive as such halo pieces are, they’re also well beyond the range of mere mortals like most of us. Our relationship with high-end brands tends to be described with their more accessible (it is a stretch to call them affordable) collections. The ones we may really be able to manage 1 day if we save our pennies and perform a good deal of fast-talking with our significant others. For Vacheron Constantin, that collection is the Overseas line, also in my opinion the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Double Time is just one of the coolest models to take the brand’s flag ahead in years. The dial on the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time features central hour, minute, and second hands for your local time, while a fourth hand marked with a distinctive red arrow indicates an additional timezone, or “home time” The AM/PM index at 9 o’clock allows the wearer to tell at a glance whether it is daytime or night back house, preventing any unintentional late-night phone-calls. The pointer-style date sub-dial at 6 o’clock is linked to local time plus could be set by means of a committed screw-lock pusher at 4 o’clock. The crown can be used to advance local time at one-hour measures in the first place, or dragging modification of both time zone hours and minutes hands in the next place. This allows for quick changes to be made to the local time as you travel between time zones, in addition to the ability to place the date fast without interfering with either of the dual time’s displays.Three variations of the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Double Time are available. The first two versions are cased in steel, provide the choice of a rich blue dial (reference 7900V/110A-B334) or a silvery white dial (mention 7900V/110A-B333), also come with an attractive steel bracelet in addition to both an alligator leather strap along with a rubber strap. Color choices are available for the straps as well, with both black and blue versions of every available. The blue straps appear like a natural fit for your blue dial version, while the black straps offer a symmetrical and dressier style for the silvery-white dial.
Timepieces such as the triple calendar ref. 4240 were instrumental in establishing Vacheron Constantin as a preeminent watchmaker after the Great Depression. Yet the complication remains far less common than the annual or perpetual calendar in the brand’s modern day offerings.
In fact, it wasn’t until last year – the first time in over a decade – that the maison reintroduced the complication with the Harmony Complete Calendar. Following that, the Geneva watchmaker had further unveiled the Historiques Triple Calendrier 1942 and 1948 earlier in October. In short order a fourth triple calendar has joined the family, with Vacheron Constantin having just taken the covers off the Traditionnelle Complete Calendar Collection Excellence Platine at Dubai Watch Week.
The new triple calendar carries itself in a similar style to the rest of the Traditionelle line, but being part of the Collection Excellence Platine, the case, dial, buckle, and hand-engraved moon phase disc are all platinum. Even the top-stitching on its alligator leather strap is made of platinum wire. A discreet “Pt950” hallmark on the dial at four o’clock is the only giveaway as to the generous quality of platinum found in the watch.
The case is likewise platinum, naturally, measuring 41mm in diameter and 10.72mm high.
Because much of the watch is the silver-grey shade of platinum, it is almost monochromatic, save for a handful of blue accents on the calendar display.
The watch is equipped with the cal. 2460 QCL, the brand’s top-tier self-winding movement, with a calendar module added on top.
